“You will never win fame and fortune unless you invent big ideas.”
– David Ogilvy

You’re moving quickly in your business.

So much so, that things are hardly recognizable from where you were a short while ago. You’ve got clients and sales and great testimonials but now you’re starting to feel like you’re pressing up against the ceiling.

You’re ready for more.

You want to build a bigger platform, reach more people, have more impact, and if you’re super honest, you want to be really well-known for…. Well, that’s the problem, isn’t it?

What are you going to be well known for?

You’re great at your work, but being an awesome coach or copywriter or yoga instructor isn’t going to get you on the TEDx stage. It’s not going to have podcasters crashing your inbox with interview requests and it’s not going to help you effortlessly attract your perfect people.

You need to spark your Big Idea.

What’s a Big Idea?

The Big Idea is the common thread that runs through your whole brand. It describes what is most important to you in a way that connects with your perfect people. It’s distinct to you and meaningful to your best customers. It’s a rally cry and a decision tool.

A Big Idea:

reflects shared values

Your brand lives in the intersection between what matters to both you and your customers. Your Big Idea is the articulation of this shared vision.

puts a stake in the ground

Big Ideas mean being really clear about what you think. You are not for everyone (nor should you be) and voicing your Big Idea is going to turn some folks away. This is good; it shows you’re on the right track, because the people who stay? They are ALL IN.

captures imagination

Big Ideas draw people in and encourage them to view themselves in the light of your message. It gives people something to talk about and share their reactions.

builds longevity

A Big Idea is specific enough that your customers see how it relates to your day to day work and broad enough that you can leverage it to build your platform. Ultimately, it’s the key to turning your body of work into your legacy.

Here’s a secret…

Everyone has a Big Idea.

But most people will never discover it because they don’t realize just how much potential they have for more.

Good thing you aren’t most people.

Spark is a brand co-creation program where we uncover and articulate your Big Idea, giving you a solid foundation on which to build your platform. Unlike other programs, Spark is based as heavily on research as it is on creativity, meaning that your ultimate Big Idea is market-tested and audience-approved.

It’s possible that you’ve tried to figure this out yourself. You’ve read, “Start With Why”, worked through other branding exercises, or taken quizzes that purport to separate you into specific categories. The trouble with this approach is that all the data comes from your own brain. And while your brain is amazing, it can’t know precisely what’s inside your audience’s hearts.

In Spark, we’ll talk directly to your customers. There are no “ideal customer avatar” exercises, or long-form questionnaires, I’ll be interviewing real people and recording what they say and how they say it. As insights start to arise, I’ll be comparing them across your market category to identify crowded spaces and surface opportunities.

Finally, I’ll take the key insight from all my research and identify the Big Idea that becomes the foundation for your brand and the ignition for your work.

Your Big Idea is waiting. Let’s create the future version of you.

This is OUTSTANDING! I can’t believe how well you translated our ideas into key messages and an action plan for moving forward. I love all of the ideas and can’t wait to go through this in more detail.

It is so nice to have this structure that helps to support our thoughts and how we can best take steps towards our goals (otherwise we get lost with so many great ideas and plans and not a clear strategy!).

THANK YOU!! I’m so glad we are working with you 🙂

How It Works

phase 1

Your brand begins and ends with you. Although a brand will ultimately belong to your customers and their perceptions, you have the ability to shape it to fit your goals. In this phase we’ll dig into your brand goals, your history, your vision and your mission. We’ll discuss your core values and start to connect the dots between where you’ve come from and where you want to go.

phase 2

Your Perfect People

Phase 2 is all about identifying what is most important to your perfect people. I’ll interview three to five of your very best clients to better understand what they value, how they understand your business, and what drew them to your circles in the first place.

phase 3

In phase 3, I take the key factors we’ve identified as important to both you and your perfect people and do an analysis of your market, to see how other businesses compare. We’ll gain a better understanding of the market as a whole, and locate the places where you can stand completely apart.

phase 4

With your Big Idea in hand, and a packet of insights into your best customers, I’ll consolidate all the information and provide notes on how you can make the most of what we’ve uncovered. We’ll review on a call so you’ll have a chance for immediate feedback and to add your own a-ha moments. You’ll be able to immediately start putting your Big Idea into action.

phase 5

Your Big Idea Strategy Guide

After our call, I’ll provide a Big Idea Strategy Guide. This is the document that articulates the strategy behind your Big Idea, includes specific action items for implementation, and will serve as the foundation for all your future marketing efforts. You’ll receive a designed document that you can share with stakeholders to keep your brand consistent and on target.

phase 6

Follow Up

The Follow Up call is scheduled one week later, in order for you to have some time to think about the findings and absorb the suggestions for implementation. This call is a free space for you to ask questions, make suggestions, or brainstorm how to start building out the rest of your brand. At the end of the call I’ll provide a list of the most important action steps you can personally take to start bringing your Big Idea to life.

I’m Linsey

I help tiny businesses brand Big Ideas. As a brand strategist and designer, I work with entrepreneurs who want to tie all aspects of their business to one consistent Big Idea. They’re ready to step into their potential, to expand their reach, and to unashamedly reach for more.

After twenty years in this industry, I know that design is not enough. If you want to grow and have more impact, you need to deeply understand your message and build a strategy for sharing it at every opportunity.

Just because you’re a tiny business does not mean you have to have tiny dreams. A Big Idea is the launchpad you need to finally jump from service provider to go-to expert.

Let’s go get it.
