Branding
About this Project
Central Okanagan Food Bank (COFB) has been serving the Okanagan community for 40 years. In that time they have evolved from a small town food bank to a regional leader in food assistance, helping not only individuals experiencing food insecurity but also playing a key role in emergency response during the pandemic and the regional wildfires.
For a decade, they had been sharing a visual identity with Food Banks Canada, however COFB felt the need for their own distinct identity that better reflects their stature as a community leader.

MOODBOARD
A central principle of COFB is the idea of providing hope – the majority of COFB’s clients are situational rather than chronic users. COFB provides assistance for individuals that allows them to overcome a temporary stressful moment and get back on their feet. To that end, the identity needed to feel bright, hopeful, and uplifting.
We finalized a mood board with bright colours, clean typography, and bold graphic elements.
Chosen moodboard
LOGO
After reviewing several identity options, we settled on a bowl of produce to represent healthy, nourishing food, and a sun rising in the background. The sun not only anchors the icon with a sense of place in the “sunny Okanagan” but also represents the idea of a brighter tomorrow.
PATTERN
As part of the identity design, I created a pattern that reflects different aspects of COFB and is used as a key brand element.
SUB-BRANDS
COFB runs multiple programs, each having their own brand. I created a series of logos that follow the same design pattern, resulting in a family of marks that are identifiable as belonging to the Central Okanagan Food Bank. As COFB adds new programs, they have the building blocks for future design.
DOCUMENTATION
To keep the brand consistent, a brand guide was created. COFB now has a writtten record of all the rules and guidelines as they roll out their new brand.
